This blog is about three interns' research at the Pritzker Laboratory for Molecular Systematics and Evolution and Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice DNA Discovery Center at the Field Museum in Chicago, IL. These interns are researching lemon shark populations and trends, funded by the National Science Foundation (grant #OCE-0623263). Kevin: Team Shark PI

Kevin is the lab manager of the Pritzker Laboratory. He has been studying lemon shark population genetics since 1996. In addition to sharks, he likes trance music, volleyball, and spending time with his family.

Team Shark

Pritzker Lab,

The Field Museum of Natural History

Out of over 60 applicants, our three interns were chosen to participate in the DNA Residency after selective interviews with the management staff of the Pritzker Lab. Team Shark consists of two high school students and one educator-- Scroll down and find their personal profiles below!

Linda

Linda is a senior at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and enjoys all forms of science, especially biology. She also loves music and performs in two choirs and plays the piano and guitar.

Aileen

Aileen is a high school senior who looks forward to pursuing science in college. She enjoys traveling, a good match of tennis, and singing loudly while driving.

Carrie

Carrie is a science teacher at John Hope College Prep who enjoys teaching biology and chemistry to 9th and 10th graders. She also enjoys long walks along the lake with her dog, Talia and watching new episodes of Dr. Who.
